Tasks and responsibilities
TNO at Holst Centre works with a range of (pre-pilot) thin-film production technologies that have very interesting potential in the fast-growing domain of Next-Generation Battery Technology. The aim is to employ the unique thin-film background of Holst Centre and the state-of-the-art pre-pilot battery production line to contribute to the development & production of next generation technologies such as high-voltage lithium (sodium) metal batteries, solid-state-batteries and metal-air
Candidate profile
You will join the Thin-Film Electronics team to develop and realize the department’s program and project portfolio in Next-Generation Battery Technology, leveraging Holst Centre’s strengths in thin and thick film process technology and related technologies. Your daily activities will be varied since you will join a multidisciplinary team that executes multiple programs and projects with partners in the academia and business in parallel. Your technical tasks will involve the translation of smaller scale developments into pilot production (equipment), co-realize the OBIC with your technical input, and realize successful pilot production runs of battery cells.
Your main activities will be to
•Join R&D activities on next-generation battery concepts with a critical look on further upscaling towards pilot production
•Contributing hands-on to the realization of the OBIC by detailing the design from a technical perspective in collaboration with our industrial partners
•Help with selection of location, necessary building auxiliaries and production equipment, with a keen eye on relevant safety aspects as well.
•Development of suppliers relationship for operation of pilot production
•Kickstart and lead OBIC pilot production based on external battery components of partners and/or TNO at Holst Centre developments
•Deliver battery cells upon pre-agreed performance parameter windows in agreement with OBIC partners - with scope for further performance optimization
•Communicate pilot production run manufacturing reports towards customers
•Work in a multidisciplinary, multi-company team.
